Softball SA Life Member, Richard Coombe Passes

Late yesterday, Richard Coombe lost his battle with illness and passed away at the RAH

His service to the sport began in 1971 with the West Adelaide Club, contributing to several clubs through his journey including Glenelg, West Torrens and Sturt where he finished his career

He represented the state as a coach for 26 years, currently sitting 3rd for all-time for years representing the state.

He was also involved as a player and coach in the Mens competition in the 80’s and 90’s.

Richard spent 21 years on the Board of Management including 5 years as the Vice President of the South Australian Softball Association. He was Chairman of the newly formed Adelaide Competition Sub-Committee in 1996, serving multiple times until his retirement in the 2016/17 season. Richard was awarded Life Membership of Softball SA in 1993, and Presidents Award in 2001/02 to name a couple of his accolades
