New Staff Member

Softball SA is thrilled to announce the appointment of Siobhan Eastham as the new Marketing and Partnerships Coordinator. Siobhan recently moved to South Australia from the UK, leaving her role as Digital Marketing Manager at England Netball. During her time at England Netball the national team were crowned Commonwealth Games Champions (2018) and the organisation hosted the Netball World Cup (2019).

She has also spent time working at The FA, has a degree in Sport and Exercise Science, CIM Marketing qualification and mini-MBA.

Siobhan stood out amongst a great field of applicants during the recruitment process. She started on Monday 1 February and you can contact her via email marketing@softballsa.com.au.

We would also like to thank Mandy Layden, who held this position for almost two-years. Mandy’s departure was on good terms, so much so that she provided a handover for Siobhan so she could hit the ground running. We wish Mandy all the best for her new position with the State Government.

New State Teams Committee

In accordance with the Softball SA Regulations, the Board of Directors made the decision to call for new committee members. It is with great excitement that there was a terrific response, and the new committee has been formed.

The committee terms of reference have been updated and will help guide the new members through Softball SA process and policy.

Our new committee members are:

Jo Liddell

Jo joined the committee last year and has been a valued member of the Softball SA community and State Teams program over the last few years. She also has state team experience as a team manager and has assisted the office with travel plans.

Jill Williams

Jill is a Softball SA Life Member and has many years of representative softball experience. She has recent experience both as a statistician and team manager for our state teams (including a National title in 2015).

Ben Lucas:

Ben has recently been appointed by the Board as the Softball SA High Performance Manager, this will link his master’s degree in High Performance and current paid position as Softball SA Pathway Development Officer. He has also been a player and a coach in several State teams.

Heather Ollrich:

Heather replaced Stuart Mossman as the board representative last year and has been instrumental in the updated terms of reference

The committee may at times call upon others in the softball community to support them, including but not limited to state coordinators (in scoring and coaching).

Softball SA would also like to take this opportunity to thank all that have served on this committee in the recent years including:

  • Lee Hull: Lee has over a decade of service, which went towards his Life Membership recognition in 2018. One of Softball SA’s longest serving state coaches and now State Teams selector.
  • Stuart Mossman: Stuart was appointed as the board representative on the committee.
  • Jacqui Dunn: Jacqui is the outgoing Chair of the committee and State Teams Coordinator. Jacqui’s service was held in such regard by the organisation and was recognised in 2017 when she was the recipient of the Softball SA Chairman’s award. In her time with Softball SA, she also gave back further as team manager for the Starz and Aussie Spirit teams and squads.

The State Teams Committee will meet soon to start preparing for 2022 National Championships.

New Senior Member Protection Information Officer

Softball SA is pleased to announce the appointment of Nicole Ween to the position of Senior Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO).

Nicole has an impressive resume with over 30 years of legal experience in her paid profession and relevant training including Child Safe Officer, Mandated Reporter and MPIO to name a few.

The Softball SA Senior MPIO position has been created for a couple of reasons, mostly to strengthen the position regarding the Disputes and Complaints process currently in place, and to help better resource the responsibilities of the original position. This will be achieved by the formation of a committee of like-minded people willing to help as an MPIO as well as a support one another on this volunteer committee.

Nicole will work with the Executive Officer as well as the Board of Directors to ensure the complaint handling process is adhered to and will lead a team (the committee) of MPIO’s that will be on hand to support the Softball SA membership during a dispute/complaints process.

Should you, or someone you know have an interest in becoming an MPIO, please email admin@softballsa.com.au with an expression of interest and an attached resume.
